The House Through the Year
The house keepsfour seasons.
The same four rituals, set differently four times a year. The scent changes, the warmth changes, and so does the hour we knock.
Tonight the house is keeping Autumn 2026
December to February
Winter
The season of warmth carried in from the cold.

The room is set warmer than you would set it yourself. Blankets go on before your hands are unwrapped, and the oil is left over the burner longer so nothing touches you cool.
- ScentResin, smoke, dried rose
- WarmthBlankets warmed, room held higher
- This seasonA longer close, and tea before we leave
March to May
Spring
The season of water, and of beginning again.

Petals return to the bowl. The hour opens with your hands lowered into warm water, and the room is kept lighter, so the evening feels like something opening rather than closing.
- ScentRose water, neroli, clean linen
- WarmthMild, windows kept veiled
- This seasonPetal water at the opening of the hour
June to August
Summer
The season of late light and slower evenings.

We arrive as the light goes gold and set the room to meet it. Curtains drawn to a hand's width, cool cloths at the temples, and an hour that ends after the sun has gone.
- ScentFig leaf, orange flower, cold stone
- WarmthCooler oils, cloths kept chilled
- This seasonEvenings set later, for the last of the light
September to November
AutumnNow
The season of candles lit earlier than they need to be.

Dark comes early, so the house comes early with it. More wax than any other season, heavier linen, and oils warmed a shade hotter than they are in June.
- ScentBeeswax, clove, wine-dark amber
- WarmthOils warmed hotter, heavier linen
- This seasonCandlelight only, from the first knock
The Season Now Open
The season of candles lit earlier than they need to be.
